Carlsbad is a seaside resort-town in North San Diego County. It is one of the most expensive coastal cities. The city has drafted ordinances protecting sensitive wildlife habitat, one of the first such ordinances within the state of California. The city has also promised to protect a certain amount of land within the city limits from development of any kind, along with spending significant funds to restore habitats destroyed by newer development projects. Because of its desireable location, relatively low population density and high performing school districts, the city is seen to have a high quality of life.

Carlsbad Village features many antique shops, clothing stores and restaurants. Regular events in the village, which include a farmers market held on Saturday mornings 9AM -1PM and Wednesdays from 2-5PM, and a marathon, draw many people from throughout the region to downtown Carlsbad. The Carlsbad Chamber of Commerce also hosts a bi-annual street fair, called The Village Street Faire, on the first Sunday in May and November. The Village Street Faire is the largest single day street fair in North America with almost 1,000 vendors and well over 120,000 people in attendance.

Fantastic surfing, swimming, fishing, strolling and sunbathing are the favorite activities along Carlsbad's seven miles of beautiful beaches. The Carlsbad Seawall is a popular location for a leisurely stroll along the beach or a nice aerobic run off of the sand. It is located one block south of Carlsbad Village Drive and continues south for nearly a mile to Tamarack Avenue. Carlsbad is also blessed with three picturesque lagoons. These sensitive ecosystems are ideal for bird watching and nature walks.

Carlsbad is well known as the golf capital of the world, with two world class golf resorts and more than 30 golf industry businesses calling Carlsbad home. The annual Acura Classic is held each August at the world renowned La Costa Resort and Spa. Tennis enthusiasts also converge to watch the world's top seeded women tennis players compete in Carlsbad.

Each Spring, the foothills of Carlsbad are transformed into a rainbow of vibrant colors. The Flower Fields host thousands of visitors from all over the world every year, during the peak ranunculus blooming season of March and April. This spectacular show of Mother Nature is unique to North America.

All in all, with this much to offer, it is no wonder that living in Carlsbad is a dream for many.
